How DOT enhances cyber resilience with A42

About DOT

DOT is a government agency responsible for supporting the logistical needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Guided by the principles of integrity, transparency, and human-centeredness, DOT provides food supplies, clothing, fuel and oil for the military.

The organization’s mission is to build an efficient and accountable supply system where every hryvnia of the state budget delivers maximum value. DOT aims to make military supply not only an attractive market opportunity but also an honorable duty.

Why A42 Fits DOT’s Needs

One of the biggest strengths of the A42 platform is its simplicity and accessibility. Both technical engineers and managers can launch scans, review results, and quickly pass findings to developers for remediation. This flexibility means that security doesn’t depend on a single role – responsibility is shared across the team.

“I got access recently, and previously I reviewed results through my colleague Maksym. But I can say this: it’s not only an engineer’s task. Managers can also generate reports, while engineers automatically handle remediation. This makes A42 easy to integrate into our workflow.” – Volodymyr Sukalo, Head of Information security.

The platform’s design also stood out for its minimalism and user-friendliness.

“It’s convenient – just one click to launch a scan, review results, and drill down into specific findings. Pre-configured filters and a visual landscape map help us see open and closed services at a glance. It’s not overloaded with features, which makes it easy to use.” – Maksym,  cybersecurity team

Discovering What Others Missed

One of the turning points for DOT’s security team was when A42 uncovered vulnerabilities that internal monitoring and traditional tools had overlooked.

“There was one interesting finding that highlighted a vector we hadn’t covered with our internal monitoring. A42 really helps map the entire external perimeter and catch things teams might forget. It’s like having another set of eyes on your perimeter.” –  cybersecurity team.

This was especially critical when comparing A42 with Tenable, a tool already used at DOT. While Tenable required manual configuration of scan targets, A42 automatically discovered exposed services – including ones that were never added to the scope.

“Tenable didn’t catch it because we hadn’t added that specific service for scanning. A42, however, found it automatically. That’s a huge advantage – the platform identifies subdomains and services tied to our main domain without us having to configure everything manually.” – cybersecurity team.

Key Benefits for DOT

Through its adoption, A42 provided DOT with several strategic advantages:

  • Risk reduction & control – previously unseen issues are now identified and mitigated quickly.
  • Confidence – knowing that the perimeter is continuously monitored brings peace of mind.
  • Automatic discovery – A42 detects subdomains and services that other scanners miss.
  • Ease of use – the platform is suitable not only for security engineers but also for system administrators and DevOps.
  • Visual reporting – exposure mapping makes it easier to present findings to managers, helping them clearly see open services and associated risks.

“The platform reduced risks by highlighting things we didn’t see before, and it gave us an extra layer of confidence – like having another watchdog over our external perimeter. Developers or DevOps might expose something by accident, and A42 catches it before it becomes a real problem.” – Volodymyr Sukalo, head of Information security

Continuous Improvement & Partnership

Another factor that impressed DOT was the pace of A42’s development. The platform evolves quickly, and the team actively implements feedback from customers like DOT.

“Over the time we’ve worked together, I’ve seen the platform grow. Many of the features we asked for were added. If development continues at this pace, in a year or two A42 will become an even stronger product. That’s why we can confidently recommend it.” – Maxym, cybersecurity team.

Would DOT Recommend A42?

Absolutely. For DOT, the choice is not only about functionality but also about supporting a Ukrainian product that keeps improving.

“Yes, we recommend A42. First, because it’s a Ukrainian product. Second, because you’re constantly evolving, listening to feedback, and delivering improvements. Everything we asked you to add – you developed and delivered.” -– cybersecurity team.

Final Thoughts

DOT values A42 as both a security solution and a trusted partner. By simplifying vulnerability management, enhancing visibility, and ensuring continuous protection, A42 has become an essential part of their security process.

We thank Volodymyr Sukalo and cybersecurity team for sharing their experience – and for choosing A42 as a partner in strengthening DOT's cybersecurity.
